Several ports of the game were created, most notably for the Mega Drive/Genesis and Master System. Sega Ages 2500 is a series of budget-priced games published by Sega, released for the PlayStation 2 console in Japan, with each game sold individually. Initially, these were part of a joint venture with D3 Publisher called ' 3D AGES ' (SEGA D3 spelled backwards). Columns gets its release in the SEGA AGES remake series. The classic action-puzzle hit gets a polygonal makeover with new gameplay modes including 2P and CPU VS modes, challenge, survival and time attack in addition to the 'story' mode. Game description: In Virtua Fighter 2, the intrepid fighters return to the World Fighting Tournament. Take to the stage to see who will claim the championship title. SEGA AGES 2500 Vol.13: OutRun May 27, 2004 PS2; SEGA AGES 2500 Vol.13: OutRun is a remake of the arcade classic as part of the Sega Ages series. He also finds the Golden Axe, the magical emblem of Yuria, and threatens to destroy both the axe and the royal family unless the people of Yuria accept him as their ruler. Three warriors set out on a quest to rescue Yuria and avenge their losses at the hands of Death Adder. An enhanced remake with 3D graphics and orchestral music was released for PlayStation 2 as part of the Sega Ages line.
The Sega Ages 2500 remake of Golden Axe features landscapes and enemy fighters which are fully rendered in 3-D. Muscle-heads bound around swinging hammers and eerie skeletal warriors rise from the ground in ramshackle fashion. Kill an enemy soldier and he'll blink a couple of times and disappear in a puff of smoke. To show the force of every swing, each sword stroke and poke from a hero leaves a light trail which we suppose conveys the power of the weapon. The sound and music have also been remixed and enhanced for thunderous effects and trilling melodies enhanced by background bass. The action consists of the usual punch, slash, and kick attacks but collect enough elixirs and you'll throw out magical attacks which fill the screen and animate for a few seconds of cinematic grandeur.
Tyris' max-power dragon attack is particularly special to watch, at least for the first viewing. Similar to all other Sega Ages releases on the PS2, a sheet of notes on the history of the game are included inside the game package for inclusion in your Sega Ages binder (which was given away with Phantasy Star). MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION: Classic Action game 'Golden Axe' is back in the PS2. Graphic renewal to 3D.

Fighting Vipers - Sega Ages 2500 After the graphically battered but playable Sega Ages edition of VF2, comes yet another Model-2 fighting classic. Fighting Vipers gets the Kikizo treatment. Version PS2 Developer 3D-Ages Publisher SEGA Genre Fighting By Ah yes,. One of my all-time favorite 3D fighting games finally got recognized and underwent the remake treatment. At one time that would have been a great thing to hear, but given how the majority of the Sega Ages 2500 series remakes have turned out thus far, I have to admit that I was a little worried.
I'm glad to see that many of those concerns were finally laid to rest and Sega Ages 2500: Fighting Vipers turned out better than expected both visually and on the gameplay front. The original Fighting Vipers made its debut in arcades back in 1995 -- with an excellent Saturn port following in 1996 - and was Sega's next foray into the competitive 3D fighting arena.
Produced by Yu Suzuki and developed by Sega's famed AM2 division, Fighting Vipers utilized a similar 3-button layout, albeit somewhat different fighting system than was used in AM2's premiere fighting series, Virtua Fighter. While both games utilized a pretty cool combo system, Fighting Vipers featured faster-paced gameplay and implemented a pretty nice juggling system, as well as other elements not found in VF2 such as light-sourcing effects and interactive arenas that made the game's style of arena fighting just a little more exciting at times. As far as fighting game stories go, Fighting Viper's story is about as bare bones as you can get really. Basically, the armor cladded youths in the city of Armston have taken up what's become the popular sport of one-on-one street fighting while decked out in armor and some funky gear. With the growing popularity of the sport the mayor decides to get in on the action by hosting a tournament where the city's best fighters can do battle against each other. Not much to the story really but who cares, fighting games never live or die by their story but by how solid their fighting engines are and I'm happy to report that Fighting Vipers, while an old game, still holds up fairly well. With the graphical issues that plagued Sega Ages Virtua Fighter 2, one of the concerns we initially had was whether Fighting Vipers would fall into the same boat - or would the developers put forth the effort needed to retain the arcade version's pristine visual quality?
