These solutions are from a year ago and the linked files aren't even all there anymore. I tried the libusb solution but it appears to have broken my system even more. I wanted to return this $125 copy of windows 10 but the store will not accept opened software returns even if the software is defective. Fingers crossed this is the last AVR project I ever touch and I can go back to using reliable tools after this.
